-
During writer’s workshop, a small group of students are selected each week to compose one piece on the computer. This still might be an illustration, random letters i.e. emerging writer’s characteristics. Each week, a new group of students are rotated to create an “electronic” composition.
-
The expectation is frequent and ongoing experiences throughout the school year.
-
Students would use Kidspiration to gather ideas in the graphic organizer, switch to outline, and review their details.
-
Students are exposed to the spell check underline as a clue.
Research proves that ongoing opportunities to write electronically will increase their typing skills, improve editing, create longer writing pieces, teach spelling and improve the retention of technology skills.
