Welcome to Tuscarora Indian School. I am proud to be the Principal of a true professional learning community. The faculty and staff are dedicated and committed to the academic success of each student. Tuscarora School is a shining example of excellence within a unique setting. This school has a warm, caring environment where students, from a proud heritage, are encouraged to work hard, to become competent, caring, independent learners while maintaining their strong connection to language, culture and the history of the Tuscarora Nation. Students who reside on the Tuscarora Nation enter in Pre-Kindergarten and graduate after 6thGrade. Students transition to Edward Town Middle School for 7thGrade and graduate from Niagara Wheatfield Central School District after completing high school requirements. Parent Involvement is encouraged and our Home School Council is devoted to working as a team with students, teachers, staff and parents.
Literacy Collaborative and Reading Recovery are part of daily instruction. The goal in all instruction is to move the child from dependence to independence. All teachers’ use a balanced literacy approach in which they model reading and writing in small flexible groups, or guided reading / guided writing groups. Math, Science, Social Studies and Technology, Music, Art, PE and Tuscarora School News (TSN) are also a focus of the school.
The true measure of a team is the results we collectively achieve together. I thank you for visiting our website and encourage you to learn more about Tuscarora Indian School through the various links – let your curiosity take you away.
