Welcome to Colonial Village Elementary School! I feel blessed to be a part of the Niagara Wheatfield Central School District and community. I look forward to working with and building relationships with parents, students and faculty.
Before I became the principal of Colonial Village Elementary, I was the Assistant Principal at West Street Elementary School in the Niagara Wheatfield Central School District. Prior to coming to Niagara Wheatfield, I worked in the Williamsville Central School District for 3 years, as the Administrative Assistant/Math Specialist and taught 4th grade in the Tonawanda City School District for 5 years.
At Colonial Village Elementary we look to create learning communities that help children grow intellectually, socially and emotionally. I believe that parents are a vital part of a child’s education and I look forward to having communication with parents as our partners throughout the educational process.
All of the teachers in the Niagara Wheatfield Central School District use a comprehensive literacy approach called Literacy Collaborative in their classroom. Literacy Collaborative includes guided reading, shared reading and independent reading. Students are instructed in small flexible groups at their own individual reading level. This allows students to be successful and progress at their own rate. The goal of Literacy Collaborative is to create independent and strategic readers and writers.
The math program that is taught at Colonial Village is called Math Connects and the focus is to have our students become strategic problem solvers. Our students work daily on their basic foundational skills and are always looking forward to being challenged mathematically.
I am very excited to be a part of the Colonial Village community. I am focused on helping all of our students succeed and meet high academic standards in the classroom.
Please feel free to contact me throughout the year if you have any questions regarding Colonial Village Elementary and the great educational programs at 215-3270.
